When I painted “Afro Blue” something in me told me to leave out details that I was taught are “part of the face”. It felt like a couple of odd brush strokes but in reality it was an artistic decision – much like the other elements that makes this work “otherworldly”.

As I stepped away, I thought of the lyric, “Dream of a land, my soul is from”. I decided to call this featured art of the month, “Afro Blue”.
