Art of the Month: Afro Blue

Alternatively titled, a little of the arts, a lot of letters, and a dash of the Robert Glasper Experiment.

With Prime deals on Amazon and Walmart it is tempting to fill your cart with home and living essentials, but where are you buying your art? Last year I shared a collection of 30 Things for My Thirties, but I was a little more subtle about the art I was preparing for sale in the form of greeting cards, prints, and apparel. I recently launched the Gifted x Gab online store so you can fill another shopping bag, or a tote with original art from my portfolio — some of which was sold under my business Palmy Greetings. But not all…

When I painted “Afro Blue” something in me told me to leave out details that I was taught are “part of the face”. It felt like a couple of odd brush strokes but in reality it was an artistic decision – much like the other elements that makes this work “otherworldly”.

As I stepped away, I thought of the lyric, “Dream of a land, my soul is from”. I decided to call this featured art of the month, “Afro Blue”. You can find this art as a framed canvas print that is available in a variety of sizes. This is just one of many things you can find in the “Gifted x Gab” online store now linked under the shop tab.

But here is a preview:
